Yuehan (Selina) Ma and Yichen (Jack) Ji created this public art project at the Manhattan Park Pool Club on Roosevelt Island, NYC. The contemporary design of this mural pays tribute to the fluidity of freedom itself, with each stroke and color choice breaking away from traditional forms. Instead of the geometries commonly found in pool design, organic shapes were used to mirror the natural paths of rivers and streams—unhindered and sovereign. The abstract motifs encircling the canvas honor the boundless sky, ever-changing clouds, and lush landscapes—elements that coexist harmoniously with water. This colorful mural on the pool deck spans over 8,000 square feet and took 42 gallons of paint and fifteen days to complete.
